Suffolk County Man Charged With Attempted Burglary In Nassau

A suspicious man knocking on random doors is in custody after being caught attempting to break in to a Long Island residence, police said.

A 911 call was made to the Great Neck Estates Police Department shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, police said, when Richard Caruso, 53, of Babylon, was seen knocking on doors suspiciously on Hickory Drive.

After locating Caruso, police said that the subsequent investigation determined that he was spotted entering a rear yard and attempting to open a sliding glass door to a Hickory Drive home, Nassau County Police said. He was taken into custody without incident.

Caruso was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
